Welcome to my new adventure.  For the next eight weeks, I’ll be a volunteer, teaching English in Santa Tecla, El Salvador.    This is my first time living abroad in a place in which I do not speak the native language.  It is also my first time in many years working with children.

Why do this?  I’m beginning a new career teaching English as a foreign language to refugees and immigrants arriving here in the U.S.  This September, I  will begin a graduate program at Southern New Hampshire University to earn a teaching degree.  I am hoping this experience in El Salvador will help me to gain a certain perspective as my education begins. Enjoy!
